What does Dimmesdale's congregation think of him?

They think he is a saintly man who Chillingsworth comes to save. His heart is always paining him because he works so hard to save their souls. They have no idea he is being wracked with guilt over being an adulterer and ruining Hester Prynne's life and marriage.
