What are the possible legal steps for a mutual separation in India?

Our s is a love marriage. I have a 7 yrs old daughter. My wife is very dominant , possessive and doubts me a lot. She insults me and misbehaves with my parents regularly. She has a lot of boyfriends whom she mixes up very well, i never had any problem with that, never even objected as i believed her. But though i have very limited girl friends, she does not like them at all. This is happening since a long time. She even tried to scare me and threat me of dire legal consequences. She often tries to take sleeping pills whenever I say that I would like to come to a decision instead of leading such a life. I am concerned about my daughter facing everything now and then .She even misbehaves with me infront of my daughter. She has even tried to commit suicide by taking pills. I would like to know if we can stay separately in a legal manner , both having equal custody of our daughter cause i do not know whether in India legal mutual separation is acceptable or we have to take a mutual divorce . And if she is not ready for the mutual separation what are the possible legal steps i can take to keep my daughter , my parents and myself safe
