Previous owners enclosed patio without permits.?
I am in the state of Florida, and we bought a house two years ago. The owners disclosed that they enclosed a patio without getting permits. We were desperate to buy so like idiots, we didn't question it. We use the room (and the additional space that is attached to the master bedroom), but we are concerned about what will happen when we go to sell the house. The foundation looks to be about 6" thick, and from what I can decipher, 12" is code. Prior to finding that out, I had wanted to get the county out to sign off on it, but now I'm nervous. What would they make us do if it was found? Would we have to tear out drywall, etc.? Thanks in advance for any sound advice.
