I touched my thumb on hot metal. Will the pain/sensitivity go away over time?

I touched really hot metal and it has left an imprint, which I ume will stay together as a scar. But my question is actually about the spot where I contacted the metal. It is really sensitive right now and since it's my thumb, I have to use it a lot and right now its a bit sensitive, i can feel the "pain" (Not pain but it's definitely something you don't want to feel especially when holding a pen or typing). Will the pain go away over time?
